Chicago-based Errand Solutions CEO and Founder Marsha McVicker was featured at the Governor’s Northern Wisconsin Economic & Community Development Summit to speak on the opening of their Solutions Center in Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin. The Solutions Center will bring 60 family-sustaining jobs to the rural community that hasn’t seen economic growth in the last 15 years. The focus of the Solutions Center will be to support Errand Solutions’ business-to-business mobile application that takes care of people’s errands while they work.

“We like to say we make employees happy and companies popular,” McVicker said. Through a new mobile app, customers can cross items off their to-do lists, reduce stress and become more engaged in their workplace. They can get their oil changed, pick up their dry cleaning and order a cake all with the touch of a button.

With the development of the mobile app and the addition of high profile real estate brokers Cushman & Wakefield to the client list, Errand Solutions was poised for huge growth at a fast pace. To handle the increased business, McVicker set out to create a service center dedicated to facilitating requests from all over the world. McVicker began considering Land O’Lakes as a location for the center after learning about the Vilas County Economic Development Corporation through a radio advertisement.

One of the main reasons Land O’Lakes was chosen for the site was their commitment to broadband efforts. Together with ChoiceTEL, the town has committed $250,000, along with a state match of the same amount, to bring fiber optic broadband to the Land O’ Lakes area.

The Solutions Center will help to facilitate customer requests with an international network of service providers who are all connected through the mobile app. The app is available to employees of businesses who contract with Errand Solutions, which amounts to more than 16 million potential customers. Although customers will make a majority of their requests through the app, the Solutions Center will provide the human element that has set McVicker’s business apart from the competition since its inception in 2000.

“Even with our amazing technology, our people are our most valuable asset,” McVicker said. “People who can problem solve and are tenacious. You’re going to have the empathetic listener who’s a problem solver. We hold your hand through the whole process. We make sure whatever you have to get done is taken care of.”

The Solutions Center will initially be launching with a manager and a small team, but will expand to 60 team members within the next five years.
